Aroma Yoga

What is aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy is the use of the distilled essences of plant materials for physiological, psychological and physical benefit. These essences are referred to as aromatherapy or essential oils and can be applied to the skin using a carrier or base oil or inhaled via steam dispersal. You should only apply essential oils to the skin or ingest if using very high quality oils and under the advice of a qualified aromatherapist. Modern medicines have their roots in essential oils. For example, aspirin is from the bark of birch trees and digitalis is from the foxglove.

As a qualified aromatherapist I can create a tailored blend to suit your needs. I will take a full assessment of your needs and preferences to create the perfect blend for you. I use essential oils for therapy, facial oils and massage.

What is Aroma Yoga?

Aroma Yoga is a wonderfully unique practice that brings together yoga and essential oils, aiming to boost your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. By blending the healing properties of aromatherapy with yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation, it truly deepens the overall experience.

Key Features of Aroma Yoga:

  • Use of Essential Oils: In Aroma Yoga sessions, essential oils are incorporated in various delightful ways, whether by diffusing them in the air, applying them on the skin, or inhaling them directly.
  • Holistic Benefits: Both yoga and aromatherapy focus on holistic principles. When practiced together, they can harmonise the body and mind, enhance concentration, reduce stress, and facilitate emotional release.
  • Customizable Experience: Aroma Yoga can easily be tailored to meet individual needs or specific themes. For example, in restorative sessions, calming oils for relaxation are often used, whereas more active sessions might integrate energising oils to awaken the senses.

How It Works:

  • The selection of oils is based on their characteristics and the overall intention behind the yoga session. Some examples include:
    • Lavender for relaxation.
    • Peppermint for enhanced breathing.
    • Lemongrass for increased energy and focus.
  • Techniques also include using diffusers to scent the space or applying blended oils directly to enrich your mindfulness during poses and meditation.

Benefits:

  • Amplifies relaxation and focus throughout your yoga practice session.
  • Deepens meditation by engaging your senses.
  • Supports emotional healing and physical balance.

Aroma Yoga is perfect for most people but due to the nature of essential oils must be used with caution in pregnancy. It’s a transformative way to connect with your body and mind while savoring the soothing effects of essential oils.
