Yoga Therapy

Personalised support for your body, mind and wellbeing

Yoga therapy offers a gentle, practical approach to managing health conditions and restoring a sense of balance. It’s a fully personalised practice, tailored to meet you where you are—physically, mentally and emotionally.

Whether you're living with chronic pain, recovering from illness or injury, or navigating stress or fatigue, yoga therapy offers tools to help you feel more at ease in yourself.

Rather than attending a general yoga class, you'll receive one-to-one guidance using movement, breathwork, relaxation, and meditation—adapted specifically for your needs.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is a gentle, empowering approach that helps you explore the root causes of physical and emotional discomfort. Whether you're living with chronic pain, recovering from illness, or navigating stress or life transitions, yoga therapy can help restore balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally. It is the therapeutic application of yoga to support health and wellbeing, drawing on traditional yoga practices, but it is grounded in modern, evidence-based understanding of the body and mind. Yoga therapy is defined by the Minded Institute as:

“Yoga therapy is the application of yoga practices to alleviate physical and mental health conditions, promoting self-care and overall wellbeing.”

Sessions are collaborative, supportive, and paced to suit you. You don’t need to be flexible or experienced in yoga—just open to exploring what helps you feel better.

Unlike a general yoga class, yoga therapy is entirely tailored to your individual needs and goals, using a combination of:

  • Therapeutic movement
  • Breathwork
  • Meditation and visualisation
  • Somatic awareness
  • Deep relaxation

Yoga therapy is person-centred, non-dogmatic, and designed to meet you exactly where you are—whether you're highly mobile or living with significant physical limitations.

How Can It Help?

Yoga therapy may be helpful if you're experiencing:

Physical Health

  • Chronic pain (including back, neck, hip and joint pain)
  • Arthritis or other inflammatory conditions
  • Chronic fatigue or post-viral fatigue
  • Tension headaches or migraines
  • Women’s health concerns (e.g. endometriosis, menopause, pelvic pain)
  • Postural issues or mobility difficulties

Mental & Emotional Health

  • Stress, anxiety, burn-out or overwhelm
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Nervous system dysregulation (e.g. feeling ‘on edge’ or easily exhausted)
  • Breath-holding or shallow breathing patterns

Yoga therapy is not a replacement for medical care but can work well alongside it. Many clients find it supports their treatment plan and helps them feel more in control of their health.

My Approach

I’ve completed over 600 hours of specialist Yoga Therapy training, in addition to 500 hours of yoga teacher training and I am a member of the Yoga Therapy Association.

My work draws on yoga, neuroscience, and mind–body health, all grounded in evidence-informed practice. I aim to create a warm, safe, and collaborative space—supporting your goals, not imposing them.

I’ve worked with people experiencing long-term conditions, life transitions, and stress-related health issues. My role is to support you in finding approaches that are both effective and manageable, whatever your circumstances.

Yoga therapy is increasingly recognised within the NHS as part of social prescribing, helping individuals take an active role in their health, recovery and improve their quality of life in a holistic way..

Testimonials

Alison

I really appreciated the way in which Vicky took the time to listen and understand the triggers for my anxiety and in each session she customised the therapy to meet my needs. Subsequently, I have used some the strategies she suggested for my toolkit to manage specific flareups.

I have found Yoga Therapy to be a worthwhile experience both physically and mentally. I was not sure what to expect from the sessions and was a little sceptical about the “fluffier” sides of yoga, but every session was a benefit to me. Vicky was very good at talking through the sessions and what the benefits were and how the yoga practice would help me in different ways. I would thoroughly recommend Vicky and yoga therapy to other people.

My work with Vicky has hugely increased my awareness of the impact of my foot pain on the rest of my body, and has also given me tools I can use to address other physical issues that have arisen as a result of this, including shoulder pain, hip pain and general backache. Vicky's approach was kind and sympathetic, but we were there to do a job, setting clear goals and expectations and follow up. I can't thank her enough for helping me through a challenging time and look forward to continuing to work with her in the future.
