Private yoga sessions are open to everyone - from complete beginners to those wanting to deepen or refine their practice. They are particularly supportive for people managing stress, anxiety, low mood, menopause symptoms, fatigue, or sleep difficulties, and for anyone returning to movement after illness or injury.

Some clients use their sessions to build physical strength and mobility; others come for emotional balance, calm and clarity. Every session is tailored to your whole self - helping you reconnect to your natural steadiness and ease.

If you are living with a specific health condition or would like a more clinical, integrative approach, Yoga Therapy may be a better fit. We’ll help you decide which option best supports your goals.

What to expect

Your journey begins with a free 15‑minute conversation to explore your aims and discuss how we might work together. The first full session (75–90 minutes) includes gentle assessment, mindful movement, breathwork and relaxation - setting a foundation for your personal practice.

Subsequent sessions build on this, adapting as your needs evolve. You’ll receive a simple home practice after each appointment, often supported by short videos or written notes, to help you continue between sessions.

Sessions are available in person at The Open Practice in Basingstoke and online via Zoom.

Private yoga sessions are offered at the same rate as Yoga Therapy, reflecting the depth of personal attention and therapeutic care provided.

    A gentle, comprehensive introduction that includes assessment, discussion of goals and your first tailored practice.
  • Follow‑Up Session (60 mins) - £60
    Ideal for continuity and progression, refining and expanding your personal practice.
  • Extended Session (90 mins) - £90
    Allows additional time for restorative or breath‑focused work.
  • 6 x 60 min Session Package - £330
    A supportive way to build commitment and see steady change over time.

Where & when

Sessions take place at The Open Practice in Basingstoke, online via Zoom, or occasionally in your home (depending on location and subject to additional fees). Weekday daytime and early evening appointments are available, with a small number of Saturday slots.

If you have accessibility needs, please share them when booking so we can prepare the right setup and adaptations.

Preparing for your session

Wear comfortable layers that allow you to move and rest with ease. Mats, bolsters and blankets are available in the studio, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please be ready to discuss any relevant health information that might support your practice, at your first session.

FAQs

How does a private session differ from a class?
A 1‑to‑1 session is completely individual. You’ll move at your own pace, with time for questions, reflection and deeper understanding.

Is private yoga the same as Yoga Therapy?
They share many tools, but the focus differs. Private yoga supports general wellbeing and self‑care; Yoga Therapy is more clinical and used to address specific health concerns.

I’m new to yoga - is this suitable?
Yes. Many people begin their yoga journey through 1‑to‑1 sessions to build confidence before joining a class.

Can two people attend together?
Yes, a 2:1 session can be arranged for partners or friends. Please enquire for details.

What’s your cancellation policy?
We kindly request 48 hours’ notice for cancellations to avoid a charge. Full details are in your welcome pack.
