Gentle Chair Yoga

Classes Details Main Image

Accessible, supportive movement for strength, mobility and confidence

Chair Yoga offers a gentle and practical way to move your body without needing to get up and down from the floor. Using a chair for support, the class focuses on building strength, improving mobility, and helping you feel more comfortable and capable in everyday life.

The approach is steady, compassionate and always adaptive to suit the people in the room. Drawing on Hatha yoga, somatic movement and breath awareness, you’ll be guided to move in a way that works for your body - whether that’s enjoying a good stretch or gradually building towards things like reaching down and touching your toes.

There’s no pressure to keep up or perform. You’re encouraged to explore what feels right for you, with clear guidance and a calm, friendly atmosphere.

What to expect

Each session is thoughtfully structured to support both body and mind:

  • Gentle warm-up to ease stiffness and bring awareness to the body
  • Seated and supported standing movements to build strength and coordination
  • Mobility work for joints, particularly shoulders, hips and spine
  • Light “brain yoga” woven in - simple, playful movements that support coordination, focus and connection
  • Simple breathwork to support energy and relaxation
  • Time to settle at the end, helping you leave feeling calmer and more organised

Chairs are used throughout for stability, reassurance and ease.

A supportive, inclusive space

Classes are small, welcoming and often have a light, friendly feel - there’s space for a bit of fun alongside the focus. The emphasis is always on working compassionately with your body, adapting as needed, and helping you move in a way that feels manageable and beneficial for you.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Answer

Whatever you feel the most comfortable in. Wear clothing that is comfortable to move and stretch in. Materials that breathe and wick away moisture are the most comfortable. Shoes and socks are not worn in class. If you feel uncomfortable without socks then we recommend yoga toe socks which allow you to grip and move your toes properly.

Answers

Yes please. We don't have storage facilities. If you don't have a mat for your first session you could use a folded towel. Once you are committed to regular yoga it would be wise to purchase your own mat - Vicky can help you source one.

Answers

Always make sure that Vicky is aware, before the class, of any injuries or issues so that she can make accommodations in the class. It is important to let Vicky know of any changes since the initial medical forms were completed. Unfortunately the schedules yoga classes are not appropriate during pregnancy.
