Adaptive Yoga

Classes Details Main Image

A supportive yoga class designed to help you move in a way that works for your body.

Combining chair, standing and optional mat-based movement, Adaptive Yoga offers a steady, flexible approach to building strength, improving mobility and increasing confidence in movement.

This class is ideal if you'd like a little more support than a traditional yoga class, whether you're returning to movement, managing a health condition, recovering from injury, or simply looking for a gentler place to begin.

The emphasis is on working with your body rather than against it, helping you move in a way that feels safe, manageable and sustainable.

What to expect

Each session begins seated in the chair to gently mobilise the body and prepare for movement.

From there, we move into supported standing work and optional mat-based practice, with the chair available throughout for stability, balance and reassurance.

The chair is there when you need it, not because you have to use it.

Is this the right class for me?

If you'd benefit from additional options, the reassurance of a chair, or a gentler starting point, this class may be the best fit for you.

FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Answer

Whatever you feel the most comfortable in. Wear clothing that is comfortable to move and stretch in. Materials that breathe and wick away moisture are the most comfortable. Shoes and socks are not worn in class. If you feel uncomfortable without socks then we recommend yoga toe socks which allow you to grip and move your toes properly.

Answers

Yes please. We don't have storage facilities. If you don't have a mat for your first session you could use a folded towel. Once you are committed to regular yoga it would be wise to purchase your own mat - Vicky can help you source one.

Answers

Always make sure that Vicky is aware, before the class, of any injuries or issues so that she can make accommodations in the class. It is important to let Vicky know of any changes since the initial medical forms were completed. Unfortunately the schedules yoga classes are not appropriate during pregnancy.

Answers

Please arrive 5 minutes before class starts so that you can set up and class can commence on time.
